Salaam!

Hello from the Sultanate of Oman! I thought it'd be a good idea to keep friends and family updated with my daily happenings in the Arabian Gulf, 6 months after my departure. Still got a good 7 months left to go, can't believe it happened so fast!

Since I've left the familiar surroundings of Canada, I've had the chance to explore Oman, Russia, and Qatar thanks to AIESEC. But this blog is more to share the life and reality of living in Oman. Here's a preview:

We can begin with the stereotype of the Middle East: people living with camels in tents in the desert...it exists but not really reflective of the majority...

...it's more likely to see the beautiful game in Oman, with locals proudly flooding the streets after a victory.

Tradition does exist, as seen by dhows in the port of Sur, two hours east of the capital, Muscat.

Also between Sur and Muscat is Wadi Shab (meaning "mountain gorge"), where you can hike by emerald green water from springs up to a waterfall inside a natural cave!

Lastly, a traditional trip to just one of the Sultan's many palaces.

Stay tuned there's more to come, with trips to other cities of Oman, abroad to Moscow, St. Petersburg and Doha! Until next time, ma'salaama!
